About IGA

International Gateway Academy

Now in its fifth year of existence, International Gateway Academy (IGA) has grown and matured.

In September 2004, the Milli Egitim Bakanligi gave permission for the opening of IGA only days before the designated starting date. During the 2004-2005 year, IGA went through many adjustments. A shortage of funds meant a lot of hard work by a tireless staff who sacrificed much for the benefit of the 131 children. In that first, arduous year, plenty was learned, shared, and experienced by staff and students alike. We said goodbye to many good friends and said hello to many new ones.

Since then, the school has grown substantially in size and in its vision of education. As one looks at the 2008-2009 year, it is obvious that IGA has been gifted with many willing, hard-working staff and intelligent, able students!

This year (2008-2009), the number of students attending IGA has risen to 234. There are so many students that we had to take two school photos because there was not enough space to fit the whole school body onto the stairs of the main entrance! In fact, last year we outgrew our building so we had to remodel and expand in March to add more classrooms!

Along with this influx of new students has come plenty of new sports and extra-curriculuar activities organized by the school for students, parents and staff. We are proud of our education, our building, our staff, and our students. Welcome to IGA!
